OUR GREENE GIVING ACCOUNTS
There can be little doubt about a certain amount of philanthropy is simply good business, and that functions for the long-term benefit of the area. Working through local charitable entities, the Greene County Community Foundation has been making our region into a better place as result of Greene Giving. There are a variety of Greene Giving Accounts to meet personal philanthropic needs.
Rena and Jim Leatherman (FISH Fairborn Endowment as component to the Greene County Community Foundation established by the Leatherman Family is to show "concern and love" for their neighbors in the City of Fairborn. The late Jim Leatherman and Herman Menapace are often credited as the "first volunteers" of the Greene County Community Foundation.)
- Unrestricted Accounts: Greene Giving Accounts have the flexibility to respond to changing needs in the region. Gifts to unrestricted Greene Giving Accounts provide increased “difference making” opportunities for Greene Giving.
- Field-of-Interest Accounts: The Philanthropy Committee recommends to Greene Giving’s Board of Directors, grants in areas of greatest needs aligning with donors’ charitable interests. These can include agriculture and workplace development, family and health, public education, recreation and senior centers.

- Subcommittee/Donor-Advised Accounts: The Internal Revenue Service says donors, or subcommittees as the donors’ representatives in the case of components, “retain advisory privileges with respect to the distribution and the investment of assets” in the Greene Giving Accounts. A distribution can include libraries, parks or schools as well as qualified charitable organizations in the region and across the nation.
- Agency Endowments: Greene Giving helps to manage assets for charitable organizations as affiliates including the Fairborn Parks Foundation, Ellie’s Rainy Day Fund and the Greene County Council on Aging (Partners in Care).
- Memorial /Tribute Accounts: Contributions give donors — as well as their families and friends or organizations — a way to preserve the memories of individuals and their legacies. Contributions also may be made to celebrate or honor special occasions, i.e., birthdays, retirements, etc.
Lewis Jackson (Family of Lewis Jackson established an endowment, now component to the Greene County Community Foundation, in his memory to help youth in Greene County obtain training leading to careers in aviation. Lewis Jackson served in many college and university administrative positions including President at Central State University and Acting President of Sinclair Community College.).
